Christmas is fast approaching and along with the “festive season” comes all kinds of body image anxieties and overwhelming feelings of guilt.
To help you “survive” another FAT shaming holiday I want to share with you the HEALTH AT EVERY SIZE (HAES) principles. HAES is leading the way in social justice by creating an inclusive community focused on respect and talking openly about fears around food and the fat body. I’ve invited Emma Thomas (Distorted eating and body image specialist) and Meagan Kerr (of “This is Meagan Kerr”, plus size fashion blogger and much more!) to come together to share insights into this field, in an open forum.
Let’s talk about it- let’s have the conversations so we can put an end to FAT judgment and learn the facts that the diet industry doesn’t want us to know, so we can spread the right informed message!
Emma will be talking about eating over the holidays and how to limit feelings of being out of control and the accompanying anxiety and guilt that can come with this season. She will be uncovering myths around body size and health, talking through the facts of weight and the grossly misleading diet culture. She will also take us through a mindful eating exercise so you will leave this evening with some tools to gain peace of mind over the holiday season.
Meagan will be helping me to open up the conversation and give some insights to personal experiences. I treasure Meagan and her openness in sharing her stories of walking this earth in a FAT body. Openness and happiness don’t come easy and are always a work in progress - it’s her honesty that draws me to her. She’s an incredibly strong person. We all need a Meagan in our lives.
FAT TALK is a safe space where we invite you to come, share and listen. You’re not alone in you’re struggles, please join us, speak up and help build this likeminded community of FAT positive people.
no need to print off a receipt. You name will be added to a list. X
